Beauty and the Beast

I created these monster-like characters for the assignment, 'Beauty and the Beast.' I had to create these characters based on my personal experience. So I thought about my evil deed in my past life and so many things came to mind haha... And I chose my terrible experience with tropical fish that I raised when I was nine years old. To make a long story short, I accidentally killed all of them because I didn't know that water temperature was really important to them. Every day I changed the water for a good purpose but eventually it made them die slowly. The process of their dying was really horrible. I don't want to explain... Since then, whenever I see tropical fish, I really feel terribly guilty. So, back to my work, the octopus woman is me and the two human-like fish represents the tropical fish that I killed. This piece is a reflection of my mental agony. I gave the octopus woman, who is a beast, a mentally deranged expression which represents her suffering from her bad conduct. And for the two fish that represents beauty, I depicted them with a nonchalant expression because they have gone through their painful secular life.
